This custom fabrication showcases the potential of large-format 3D printing for event agencies and brand installations. Creative Polymer was responsible for adapting the 3D model, large-format production, post-processing and painting, as well as developing a secure base and freestanding solution, including wind load statics.

This created an object that not only makes an impression but was specifically built to perform flawlessly at events.

01 3D Model Creation and Adaptation

The project was based on a 3D scan of the statue provided by the client. Based on this, we adapted the 3D model for large-format production and prepared it for printing.

This also included two design iterations to optimally coordinate the form, printability, segmentation, and overall effect. Additionally, the statue's surface was given a deliberately designed rough stone texture, lending the figure a striking and high-quality appearance.

02 Large-Format 3D Printing in PETG

Production was carried out using large-format plastic 3D printing in PETG. A statue approximately 370 cm tall was produced, measured from the bottom of the foot to the top of the head.

Due to its size, the figure was produced in 13 individual parts. The segmented construction was crucial not only for manufacturing the object at this dimension but also for enabling practical transport, on-site assembly, and subsequent storage.

Where necessary, the parts were joined with 2K high-performance adhesive. The precise segmentation of the statue was coordinated with the client. Final assembly at the installation site was carried out by the client.

03 Post-Processing and Finishing

After printing, the statue underwent extensive post-processing to create the basis for a high-quality surface. This included sanding, filling, and priming.

Subsequently, a high-quality, single-color finish was applied according to client specifications for temporary outdoor use. This created a seamless, professional surface that further enhances the figure's impact and effectively conveys the stone aesthetic.

04 Pedestal, Support Solution, and Wind Load Analysis

For the secure positioning of the statue outdoors, we also supplied a 63 cm high metal pedestal and a suitable support solution.

Furthermore, we provided a wind load analysis for outdoor use. Especially for large-format event objects, this is an important component of the overall concept to thoroughly ensure not only the visual impact but also safe installation.

The result: A 3D-printed event statue with significant long-range impact.

The final product was an eye-catching XXL statue for an Austrian mobile provider: 370 cm tall, made from 13 parts, featuring an illuminated smartphone, high-quality surface finishing, and a secure freestanding solution for outdoor use.

This project demonstrates how large-format 3D printing can be strategically employed for brand presentations, promotions, and event objects – serving as a visually striking, technically sophisticated, and practically usable complete package.

From 3D Scan to Printable Large-Scale Figure

The process began with the digital refinement of the client's scan. Our task was to develop a model that was both aesthetically convincing and suitable for production at this size. Form, segmentation, and surface design were coordinated to ensure that subsequent production and assembly could be carried out smoothly.

Illuminated smartphone as a central design element

The oversized smartphone in the outstretched hand was illuminated and forms the visual focal point of the entire display. Precisely this combination of size, gesture, and lighting effect makes the statue a powerful brand object for events, promotions, and public appearances.

Secure outdoor positioning

Engineered with a base, freestanding solution, and wind load statics, the statue was designed to be not only visually striking but also to meet the practical demands of outdoor use. This created an object that merges aesthetic impact with technical reliability.

Technical realization of the large-scale statue

The figure was produced using 3D printing in PETG and assembled from 13 segments. This construction method made it possible to produce the object on a large scale while keeping it transportable.

Particular attention was paid to practical usability: The statue can be assembled and disassembled in individual parts. This not only facilitates transport but also storage between multiple uses.
